Work & Natural Law
Hippias became one of the first to be paid for the purpose of teaching and public speaking. This practice was forbidden and degraded and called sophists which in contemporary time later was considered to mean wise man. He believed in self sufficiency as a binding principle. His great skill consisted in delivering grand show speeches with his very extensive knowledge in all subjects.
Mathematics
Quadratix of Hippias
Hippias of Elis contributed significantly to mathematics by discovering the quadratix, a special curve he may have used to trisect an angle. It's also called the quadratix of Dinostratus, the first curve in recorded history that was not part of a line or a circle. It can not be drawn using a straight edge and a compass by themselves, but rather has to be plotted point by point.
The curve was used for the trisection of an angle and later in attempts to square the circle. His works were also used by Eudemus as a source for the early history of geometry. He was the source of Aristotle's information about the doctrines of Thales, and may have been responsible for the main lines of the history of the pre-Socratics found in Plato's Sophist.
Hippias regarded reality as composed of concrete physical objects and believed that all qualities applicable to any group will also apply individually to each member of the group, and all qualities found in each of the individual objects will also apply to the group as a whole.
He believed in an ideal of individual self-sufficiency.

Review Page
http://dperez198.wixsite.com/jbournoulli/reviews by Derek Perez
The website created by Derek Perez was very clear and organized. His website provides very detailed information based on Johann Bernoulli. The biography is very detailed and gives great information on Bernoulli and who he was and what he did. The mathematical research is very well done and I really understand what he achieved. The sources are very clear and tells me where he got his information from. After reading about Derek, he really tells us who he is and what he likes. It was a great way to get to know a little bit about him.
There were a couple things that I felt Derek could've improved on. The background seems like a little too much for the website. It was a great picture but it seemed like a little too much on some of the pages. Also, it is something little, but his pictures could've been lined up and organized better. Other than that, it was an overall fantastic webpage.
